Overview

Maura Prince juggles her time between working as a speech therapist and caring for her blind, domineering mother in a decaying English mansion. When Billy Jarvis arrives—ostensibly to help with the garden—he quickly becomes indispensable to Maura’s household, charming her mother and easing Maura’s isolation. Despite Maura’s unease, Billy’s handyman skills and willingness to assist seem to offer her a rare chance at freedom. But as Billy’s presence coincides with unsettling disappearances of women along the roads he helps build, the atmosphere grows increasingly tense. The Road Builder weaves gothic suspense and psychological drama into its portrait of loneliness, suspicion, and simmering menace in rural England.
