Quick Answer

What is Black Emmanuelle, White Emmanuelle about?

Black Emmanuelle, White Emmanuelle is a 1976 Italian drama, romance, and horror film directed by Brunello Rondi about a wealthy European woman and her daughter who become entangled with a spiritual guru and a circle of lovers in Egypt.

Programmer's Pick

A sun-dappled fever dream where fashion models, spiritual gurus, and forbidden liaisons collide under the Egyptian sun. Brunello Rondi fills the screen with erotic spectacle, moral ambiguity, and just enough blaxploitation and sexploitation to make you question your travel plans. This is Euro-erotica at its most decadent—and its most dangerous.

Overview

After being abandoned by her husband, Crystal relocates with her daughter Magda to a lavish mansion in Egypt, where they are waited on by their servant Ali. While Crystal indulges in casual encounters with Ali, Magda prefers to tease him without going further. Both women become fascinated with Horatio, a charismatic European spiritual guru whose influence grows in the region. Their passions intensify when Crystal invites her longtime friend, fashion model Laura, and Laura’s photographer husband Carlo to stay. As the group’s relationships intertwine amidst the opulence and heat of Egypt, boundaries blur and desires surface, setting the stage for a film that weaves together eroticism, obsession, and spiritual manipulation.
