Quick Answer

What is Anthropophagous 2000 about?

Anthropophagous 2000 is a 1999 German crime-horror-thriller film directed by Andreas Schnaas about a group of friends who encounter a cannibalistic killer while vacationing near a remote village.

Programmer's Pick

Schnaas doesn't skimp on the splatter here—Anthropophagous 2000 is a gut-churning ode to both cannibal carnage and low-budget bravado. If you're looking for subtlety, keep walking; this one's all about face-ripping, bowels, and bodies piling up faster than you can say 'remake.'

Overview

Three Interpol agents converge at a cave littered with corpses, prompting a tense investigation into the horrors that transpired there. As one agent discovers a mysterious journal recounting the ordeal of Nikos Karamanlis and his family lost at sea, the narrative pivots to a vacationing group of friends. Expecting a relaxing getaway, these friends instead find themselves isolated and hunted after the brutal slaying of two campers by an unknown assailant. What begins as a simple reunion quickly devolves into a desperate struggle for survival, as the group realizes that something monstrous is lurking in the shadows of the seemingly deserted village. Expect a relentless and grisly descent into madness and gore.
