The SassyFlix Take

This is what happens when eternal youth, mad science, and a touch of atomic nonsense collide in a Gothic mansion. Marjorie Eaton's Mrs. March is the kind of villain who makes you lock up both your cat and your housekeepers, while Joseph V. Mascelli's direction keeps the body count—and the scientific logic—delightfully unhinged.
From the Vault

If you thought your boss was demanding, try working for a woman who wants your body—literally.

Why Cult

Atomic Brain Transplants

Witness a mad scientist use radiation instead of scalpels to swap brains, with results ranging from feline frenzy to eye-gouging chaos.

Sinister Gothic Mansion

The film's setting—a brooding mansion—provides the perfect lair for illegal experiments, murder, and Mrs. March’s twisted ambitions.

Villainous Old Woman

Marjorie Eaton's Mrs. March isn’t just after eternal youth; she’s hiring, firing, and brain-swapping her way through a trio of unsuspecting housekeepers.

Cat Brain Chaos

A cat’s brain in a human body leads to one of the movie’s most notorious and bizarre sequences—eye-scratching included.

About This Film

Mrs. March, sadistic, selfish, and wealthy, uses her aging gigolo boyfriend and renegade scientist Otto Frank, whose illegal experiments she is subsidizing in her Gothic mansion, in a plan to transplant her brain into the body of a young woman. Three foreign domestics: Mexican Anita, British Bea, and Austrian Nina, are hired. Frank's mysterious and unexplained use of radiation can inexplicably transplant brains without surgery. After he puts a cat's brain into Anita, and she literally scratches out Bea's eye, Nina becomes the prospective receptacle for Mrs. March's aging but still active libido.
