Quick Answer

What is Nemesis about?

Nemesis is a 1992 action, science fiction, and thriller film directed by Albert Pyun about a burnt-out cyborg cop forced into a deadly mission to stop his former partner from leaking sensitive data to cyborg terrorists in a dystopian near-future Los Angeles.

Programmer's Pick

Nemesis serves up a heady dose of cyberpunk noir with a hero who's eighty-six point five percent metal and one hundred percent done with everyone's nonsense. Between gun fu showdowns and android intrigue, this is a future where trust is a rare commodity and submachine guns are the common currency.

Overview

Set in the year 2027, Nemesis plunges into a cyberpunk world where illegal androids and cybernetically enhanced criminals blur the line between human and machine. Alex Rain, a disillusioned assassin and bounty hunter for the LAPD, survives a brutal attack by a militant group called The Red Army Hammerheads. After months of recovery and cybernetic upgrades, Alex is drawn back into a web of deception by his former lover, Jared, now an android, and her enigmatic allies. Forced by his handlers into a high-stakes pursuit involving cyborg terrorists and sensitive data, Alex must navigate shifting allegiances, advanced technology, and his own fading humanity. The film delivers stylized violence, a gritty Los Angeles backdrop, and a moody, dystopian tone.
