Programmer's Pick

Only in the early '60s could you get a movie where a hulking caveman and a rock band share the screen. With dune buggies, desert hijinks, and an unforgettable shaving scene, Eegah! is a campy collision of prehistoric menace and pop-culture kitsch.

Overview

Eegah! introduces us to Roxy Miller, who nearly crashes into a towering caveman while driving through the California desert at night. Shaken, she reports the strange encounter to her boyfriend Tom and her father, Robert, an adventure writer intrigued by the possibility of such a discovery. Determined to investigate, Robert ventures into the desert hoping to document the creature, but when his return ride fails, Tom and Roxy set out on a rescue mission in a dune buggy. Their search takes a turn when Roxy is abducted by the caveman and brought to his cave, where she finds her father. The film blends elements of teen adventure, light horror, and oddball humor, all set against a sun-baked landscape with rock music undertones.
