Adonis Kyrou, born in Athens, was a Greek-born French director and writer whose work resonated within surrealist cinema. He directed and co-wrote The Monk (1972), a film that embodies his exploration of eroticism and surrealism, drawing on his close ties with Luis Buñuel. After moving to Paris post-World War II, Kyrou became a significant figure in the surrealist movement, influencing both film critique and production. His contributions to cinema and literature, including works like The Monk, continue to inspire discussions around the intersections of art and eroticism.
