Born in Tulsa, Oklahoma in 1953, Laura Misch Owens made her mark in cult cinema during the 1970s with her roles in Mandingo and Mardi Gras Massacre. In Mandingo (1975), she portrays a woman entangled in the brutal realities of the antebellum South, while her appearance in Mardi Gras Massacre (1978) highlights her talent in the horror genre. Owens’ early experiences as a Bunny at the Playboy Club in New Orleans paved the way for her transition into film, where she lent her distinct presence to the grindhouse aesthetic.
