Having arrived in Santo Domingo to study new methods of tobacco cultivation, Fabrizio is hosted by the American Barrymore who feels obliged to provide him with Mayra, a beautiful mulatto girl, as a temporary companion. The Italian, tired of his wife Laura, a feminist and independent, decides to settle in the Antilles and liquidates his wife over the phone. He decides to set up home with Mayra and accepts the job from Barrymore. However, Barrymore, in dire straits, has turned to trafficking in counterfeit foreign currency with the complicity of José, a Puerto Rican who, among other things, is Fabrizio's rival for the possession of Mayra.
