Programmer's Pick

Psychotronic power might sound like a garage band, but here it’s a ticket to existential dread—served up with a side of Chicago grit. Only in a film like this could a barber go from wielding scissors to mind-melting psychic force.

Why This Matters

This independent sci-fi film drew on 1970s Cold War anxieties about mind control and psychotronics, and notably inspired Michael J. Weldon to launch Psychotronic Video magazine, which became a touchstone for fans of obscure and under-appreciated cinema.
