Programmer's Pick

Women-in-prison cinema rarely gets more vicious than this: fascist uniforms, tropical sun, and sadism under every palm tree. Kurt Raab and Udo Kier bring Euro-sleaze royalty to a pulp exploitation setup that’s as bleak as it is unflinching.

Overview

A remote tropical island becomes a living nightmare under the rule of Otto Globocnik, a despot with a mysterious past, and his ruthless partner, Olga. Using a private fascist army, Globocnik enslaves the male population for labor and exploits the women for both work and pleasure. The island’s prison, notorious for its cruelty, subjects female inmates to relentless abuse and humiliation. Amid this brutality, one of the guards, Hartmann, develops feelings for Cora, an islander imprisoned under the regime. As his affection grows, Hartmann begins to question the violent methods of his superiors and secretly dreams of escaping the island’s oppressive grip with Cora. But on this island, love and hope are fraught with danger.
