Overview

Set against the sultry backdrop of 1835 New Orleans, Quadroon follows Caleb, a New Yorker whose visit to his aunt leads him deep into the city's tangled web of lust, deceit, and racial exploitation. After crossing paths with the powerful Caesar DuPree, Caleb becomes entangled in a wager involving DuPree's Mandingo Warrior and, after losing, is tasked with teaching DuPree's prized quadroon mistress. Their forbidden connection is complicated by the social strictures of the time, as well as the ever-present dangers of the luxury brothel world, gambling, and the slave trade.
