Invasion of the Bee Girls is a 1973 United States horror and science fiction film directed by Denis Sanders about a special agent investigating mysterious deaths caused by women mutated into deadly queen bees.

Programmer's Pick

Where else do cosmic rays, bee science, and erotic mayhem intersect so shamelessly? Invasion of the Bee Girls is pure 1970s sexploitation—equal parts bee lore, bare skin, and body count—never letting plausibility get in the way of a good mutation.

Overview

Special agent Neil Agar is sent to the small town of Peckham, California, after a scientist dies under mysterious circumstances at a government research lab. As he delves into the case, Agar discovers that several prominent scientists—known for their sexual exploits—are dying from heart failure brought on by sexual exhaustion. With the body count rising, suspicion grows around the lab's staff, particularly as the deaths seem far from natural. The investigation takes on a bizarre edge as Agar teams up with the lab's librarian, Julie Zorn, uncovering a tangled web of seduction, mutation, and deadly desire. The film blends erotic horror and science fiction, setting a tone that is both lurid and offbeat.
