Programmer's Pick

If you ever wondered what would happen if Frankenstein had a medical school roommate and zero ethical restraint, look no further. Re-Animator gleefully mixes slapstick, splatter, and a dash of brainy irreverence—plus it gives new meaning to 'cat-astrophe.'

Overview

At the University of Zurich, brilliant but obsessive medical student Herbert West develops a serum capable of bringing the dead back to life—with catastrophic side effects. Fleeing suspicion after a disastrous experiment, West transfers to Miskatonic University in Massachusetts, where he seeks out like-minded student Dan Cain as his new roommate and unwitting accomplice. Setting up a makeshift lab in their basement, West quickly demonstrates his serum’s terrifying power by resurrecting Dan’s deceased cat, leading to an escalation of bizarre and violent consequences. Set amidst medical academia, the film blends outrageous dark comedy with graphic body horror and mad science gone awry.
