Overview

Johnny Dalton, a modest bank teller in California, dreams of marrying fellow teller Mildred 'Mibs' Goodhue, but his hopes are dashed when his boss refuses him a raise. Despite Johnny’s insistence on waiting for financial security, Mibs is ready to take the plunge, causing friction between the two. Their friend, the ever-wisecracking waiter Emile J. Keck, tries to spur Johnny into bolder action—even joking about robbing the bank. But when Johnny finds himself in the middle of a late-night alley brawl and receives a mysterious $1,000 from a grateful bookie, he’s reluctantly swept into a tangle of luck, misunderstandings, and escalating complications. With comedic mishaps and musical interludes, this film sets up a lively farce of mistaken motives and romantic entanglements.
