Quick Answer

What is Tiger Joe about?

Tiger Joe is a 1982 Italian action-war film directed by Antonio Margheriti about a daredevil pilot in Southeast Asia who is shot down while running guns to Cambodian rebels and joins forces with a female freedom fighter to survive.

Programmer's Pick

Antonio Margheriti never met a jungle he couldn’t blow up, and Tiger Joe is no exception. David Warbeck’s shirtless swagger and cheerful violence set the tone, but it’s the Italian B-movie energy and accidental comedy that keep this Rambo riff from going stale.

Overview

Tiger Joe follows a charming, thrill-seeking pilot operating in Southeast Asia, whose day job involves flying covert weapons deliveries to rebels fighting against an oppressive Cambodian regime. When his luck runs out and he’s shot down in the jungle, he’s forced to rely on his wits—and new allies. Teaming up with the resolute rebel Kia and her companion Datu, Joe must navigate hostile terrain, evade capture, and battle their way through jungle dangers. With loyal friends on the outside hoping to rescue him and an uncertain line between friend and foe, this Italian B-movie delivers a sweaty, gun-blazing adventure packed with jungle perils, camaraderie, and a dash of politically incorrect humor.

Eurowar Charm

A classic Italian take on the Vietnam war formula, complete with conical hats, dubious politics, and a cast of cult favorites.

Ferocious Female Freedom Fighter

Kia, played by Annie Belle, is no damsel—she’s in the firefight with Tiger Joe, adding some bite to this jungle romp.
