Overview

Set in the tense days of 1961 with the Berlin crisis looming, Weekend Warriors follows a ragtag collection of Hollywood actors, writers, stuntmen, and other studio types who have cleverly sidestepped the draft by volunteering for the California Air National Guard’s air transport wing. Led by quick-witted screenwriter Vince Tucker, their main concern is keeping their cushy arrangement intact—until a congressman’s surprise visit catches them in the midst of a questionable prank. Suddenly, these self-styled "weekend warriors" must scramble to protect their leisurely status, using every trick from their showbiz arsenal to outsmart both their superiors and the political powers that threaten to uproot their comfortable lives. The tone is mischievous, with a blend of slapstick and satirical jabs at military and Hollywood culture.
