Overview

Clifford Skridlow is a reserved professor of comparative literature at Monroe College, a school struggling to stay afloat in Chicago. His life takes an unexpected detour when he crosses paths with Smooth Walker, a flashy pimp desperate to escape the wrath of a powerful mob boss named Mom. In a bid to save himself, Smooth invents the persona of 'Doctor Detroit'—a supposed underworld legend—and ropes Clifford into playing the part. Swept up by Smooth and his entourage, Clifford experiences a whirlwind night of revelry, only to awaken to the reality of his new double life. As he juggles academic duties and his adopted alter ego, Clifford finds himself navigating a world far removed from college lectures.
