Programmer's Pick

Sidney Poitier and Bill Cosby trade heists for heart as they’re hustled into community service, but don’t expect them to go soft—this is still Chicago, where even philanthropy gets pulled off with a con man’s grin. Blaxploitation style meets buddy comedy, with a side of disco and limousines.

Overview

In the urban heart of Chicago, expert safecracker Dave Anderson and slick con artist Manny Durrell have built reputations as untouchable criminals, always a step ahead of the law. Dave's meticulous burglaries and Manny's elaborate swindles bring in big hauls, including a daring theft from a notorious gangster. But when retired police detective Joshua Burke appears with knowledge of their criminal pasts, Dave and Manny find themselves coerced into a new kind of job: volunteering at a youth center to help inner-city teens find direction. What begins as blackmail soon transforms into a clash of streetwise cunning and the unpredictable energy of Chicago's toughest kids, all set against the backdrop of a bustling city and its disco-fueled nightlife.
