Corky, a tough female ex-convict working on an apartment renovation in a Chicago building, meets a couple living next door, Caesar, a paranoid mobster, and Violet, his seductive girlfriend, who is immediately attracted to her.

Quick Answer

What is Bound about?

Bound is a 1996 United States crime, drama, and thriller film directed by Lilly Wachowski and Lana Wachowski about a lesbian ex-con and her lover who plot to steal mob money from a violent money launderer.

Programmer's Pick

Bound is the Wachowskis’ pre-Matrix calling card: a taut, erotic neo-noir where femme fatale chemistry meets mob paranoia. Gina Gershon and Jennifer Tilly spark up the screen, while Joe Pantoliano sweats bullets as the twitchy Caesar. It’s a caper where the seduction is as sharp as the plot twists.

Overview

Corky, a tough ex-con working as a painter and plumber, takes on a job renovating an apartment in Chicago. She soon meets her neighbors: Violet, a seductive woman with a mysterious allure, and Caesar, her paranoid mobster boyfriend. When Violet purposefully engineers an encounter, she and Corky begin a passionate affair, forging a bond that’s as dangerous as it is irresistible. Violet reveals that Caesar launders money for the Mafia, and her relationship with him is built on necessity rather than love. With the world of organized crime lurking next door and trust in short supply, the women’s connection sets the stage for a high-stakes game of deception and desire.
