Quick Answer

What is Friday the 13th Part III about?

Friday the 13th Part III is a 1982 American horror-thriller film directed by Steve Miner about a group of friends whose summer getaway at Crystal Lake turns deadly when Jason Voorhees begins stalking and murdering them.

Programmer's Pick

This is the entry where Jason finally gets his hockey mask—and the body count keeps pace with his newfound flair. Expect classic slasher mayhem, a cast of archetypal victims, and enough lakeside carnage to keep any summer camp shuttered for good.

Overview

After a bloody encounter with Ginny Field, Jason Voorhees, badly injured and unmasked, heads to a lakefront store to regroup—leaving behind a fresh trail of victims. Meanwhile, Chris Higgins and her friends arrive at Higgins Haven for a summer retreat, blissfully unaware that their vacation spot sits in the shadow of Crystal Lake’s grim legacy. The group includes a mix of personalities: prankster Shelly, expectant Debbie and her boyfriend Andy, and a pair of laid-back stoners, all primed for a weekend of fun. Even a dire warning from a local named Abel can’t deter them, as they cross paths with Chris’s boyfriend, Rick. But this idyllic escape quickly turns ominous as Jason lurks nearby, setting the stage for a classic slasher’s hunt.
