What is Desert Hearts about?

Desert Hearts is a 1985 American drama and romance film directed by Donna Deitch about a Columbia University professor in 1959 who travels to Reno for a divorce and unexpectedly finds herself drawn to a free-spirited woman.

Programmer's Pick

Desert Hearts trades the neon of Reno for the emotional glow of a romance that feels both delicate and defiant. Donna Deitch crafts a love story where the desert heat is matched only by the chemistry between Helen Shaver and Patricia Charbonneau. It’s a slow burn, but every glance and gesture lands.
