Programmer's Pick

Garry Marshall’s take-no-prisoners hospital spoof delivers medical mayhem with mobsters in drag and interns on the brink. If you think surgery scenes could use more slapstick and less subtlety, this prescription’s for you.

Overview

Young Doctors in Love drops a new batch of medical interns into the absurd world of City Hospital, where professional ambition and personal quirks collide under the supervision of the brash Dr. Prang. As the interns bumble through their rotations, the hospital is thrown into further chaos when an aging mobster, Sal Bonafetti, is admitted under a fake name after a stroke. His son, Angelo, goes undercover in drag to protect his father from rival gangsters, while a hapless hitman is stuck in the next bed, bumbling every assassination attempt and becoming an unintended patient. With romance, mistaken identities, and a barrage of slapstick medical gags, this parody skewers the melodrama and excesses of classic hospital soap operas.
