Programmer's Pick

If you like your crime thrillers with a side of blowtorch justice and a dash of giallo flair, Mario Gariazzo’s blood-soaked poliziotteschi doesn’t disappoint. This is Italian law enforcement at its most unrestrained—where the lines between cop and criminal get dangerously blurry.

Overview

A ruthless crime boss is assassinated in a hospital, but when a young woman witnesses the act, her fear—and that of her roommate—keeps her silent. The killers, realizing they've been seen, eliminate both women, setting off a chilling chain of murders in which anyone with knowledge of the crime meets a mysterious end. Detective Gianni De Carmine is thrust into a web of violence, corruption, and intimidation, where a powerful criminal syndicate may even have allies within the police itself. Determined to bring the killers to justice, De Carmine adopts increasingly aggressive tactics, making this a hard-edged entry in the poliziotteschi tradition, marked by its unflinching depiction of police brutality and violent retribution.
