Programmer's Pick

If you ever wondered what would happen if a backroom abortion and a toxic waste spill collided, The Suckling answers with outrageous body horror and a creature feature that’s as sleazy as its setting. Only in the world of cult cinema do brothels, mutating fetuses, and sewer monsters make such queasy bedfellows.

Overview

Set in Brooklyn in 1973, The Suckling follows Bill and his pregnant girlfriend Rebecca as they turn to a grim back-alley abortion clinic that operates under the guise of a brothel. Rebecca is hesitant, but after being drugged by the clinic’s proprietor, Big Mama, she loses control over the situation. The procedure is carried out, and the aborted fetus is thoughtlessly flushed into the sewer. There, it encounters toxic waste, sparking an unholy transformation into a mutant monster. The clinic’s denizens are soon confronted by the consequences of their actions as strange happenings begin to unfold, setting the stage for a grotesque, claustrophobic creature feature rooted in body horror and urban decay.
