Jesús Franco, born in 1930 in Madrid, was a prolific Spanish director, writer, and actor known for his contributions to cult cinema. He directed and starred in Succubus (1968), where he explored eroticism and horror, and helmed The Blood of Fu Manchu (1968), blending adventure with exploitation. His work often pushed the boundaries of genre, especially in the realm of adult-oriented films, as seen in Two Undercover Angels (1969), which he also directed and wrote. Franco's unique vision and unyielding dedication to low-budget filmmaking solidified his status within the cult film community.
What a Honeymoon
Two newlyweds, Yolanda, an adventurer, and Simón, a young bookworm, travel to Banana Island, where they enjoy the days of wine and roses of their honeymoon until a particularly ridiculous dying man gives them a simple scrap of paper, thus putting into motion a crazy treasure hunt, as fun and erotic as it is dangerous. (Filmed in 1979, lost around January 1980 and found by chance in 2018, in the vaults of the Spanish Film Archive.)
