Peace loving hippies Richard Beymer and his girlfriend Lana Wood (Natalie's sister!) need some quick cash. They meet sleazy drug dealer Russ Tamblyn. He offers them money to sneak some pot over the border. Problems ensue when a government agent ends up dead. Casey Kasem and his pal are the real bad guys looking to get in on the action.
Scream Free! is a 1969 American action-drama film directed by Bill Brame and John Lawrence about hippies who get caught up in a dangerous drug-smuggling operation from Mexico to Los Angeles.
Synopsis
When Beymer objects to narcotics agents being killed, his long-haired pal from the Jets puts LSD in his drink, tries to burn him alive, and has Lana kidnapped. No musical numbers, however. With Bing's son Lindsay Crosby, Joel's son Jody McCrea and deejay Casey Kasem. Directed by Bill Brame ("The Cycle Savages").
The film throws in a little rape and some fun hallucination / trip scenes too. This one is a real rarity.
