Almost immediately, Catherine is plagued by disturbing visions—an undead corpse with a mangled face and a severed hand—that hint at a malign presence haunting the estate. Her terror escalates after a brutal supernatural attack on her wedding night, and she notices that the household is keeping secrets about a local woodsman who shares an eerie resemblance to her visions.
