Programmer's Pick

Act of Vengeance doesn’t just exploit the rape-revenge formula—it rips off the bandage and dares you to watch. Between a hockey mask-wearing assailant and a system that fails its victims, the film sets up a gritty, no-holds-barred portrait of late-night exploitation cinema.

Overview

On her way out of the barn after tending to her horse, Linda is violently attacked and raped by a masked man who forces her to sing "Jingle Bells" during the assault. Traumatized but determined, she seeks help from the police, only to encounter skepticism and victim-blaming. It becomes clear that Linda is not the first target of this serial predator—the authorities acknowledge she is the fourth known victim. Meanwhile, the attacker remains unseen, obsessively recording his own commentary about Linda and stalking her movements. The film’s early scenes set a stark, confrontational tone, highlighting the failures of the system and the isolating aftermath of violence, as Linda and other survivors begin to realize the depth of the threat they face.
