Overview

Howard, a timid laundry truck driver, spends his days picking up teenage hitchhikers along his delivery routes. Beneath his unassuming exterior lies a psyche warped by family trauma, especially the disappearance of his own sister and his mother's suffocating grip on his life. The film tracks Howard’s growing compulsion: whenever a runaway girl reveals animosity toward her mother, he is driven into violent, unremembered outbursts. As Howard’s behavior grows more erratic, missed deliveries and lateness catch the attention of those around him, while the mounting danger for young women on the highway remains chillingly unnoticed. Hitch Hike to Hell presents a bleak, exploitation-tinged portrait of psychological unraveling and menace on the margins of suburbia.
