Quick Answer

What is Forbidden World about?

Forbidden World is a 1982 American science fiction horror film directed by Allan Holzman about a genetic experiment gone awry on a distant planet, where a deadly mutant threatens a team of scientists.

Programmer's Pick

Forbidden World mutates the sci-fi creature feature with lab-induced gore, synthetic DNA, and a research team who never met a lab accident they couldn’t make worse. If you like your monsters slimy and your scientists impractical, this is protein-packed B-movie fare.

Overview

On a barren desert planet in the distant future, a group of scientists at a genetic research station create a synthetic lifeform—Subject 20—hoping to solve a galaxy-wide food crisis. Their experiment, constructed from a DNA strain known as Proto B, mutates with terrifying speed, slaughtering all animal test subjects before encasing itself in a cocoon. Federation marshal Mike Colby and his robot assistant SAM-104 are dispatched to investigate, only to find the research team split between scientific curiosity and the growing danger. As tensions rise, Colby realizes that stopping Subject 20 may be the only way to prevent the experiment from turning on its creators. Forbidden World serves up a potent cocktail of sci-fi horror, genetic meddling, and grindhouse attitude.
