Terror Express is a 1980 Italian crime thriller directed by Ferdinando Baldi about a group of passengers terrorized by three violent men who take control of their train car.

Programmer's Pick

If your idea of a night train is more ‘sleepless horrors’ than ‘romantic getaway,’ Terror Express is your station stop. Expect giallo sleaze, an ever-tightening sense of dread, and enough illicit activity to make the Orient Express blush.

Overview

Terror Express sets its claustrophobic drama aboard a long-distance Italian train as nearly ten passengers—including a prostitute, couples, and a policeman—share a sleeper car. Their journey takes a sinister turn when three unruly young men manage to overpower the policeman and seize his weapon, asserting violent control over several train cars. The thugs quickly unleash a reign of humiliation, sexual assault, and murder against the helpless travelers. As fear and brutality escalate, the tension mounts with the arrival of an unscheduled stop, offering Pierre, a former prisoner among the passengers, a fleeting opportunity to change the balance of power. The film delivers a raw, unsparing look at survival and vengeance in a confined, inescapable setting.
