Quick Answer

What is Things Are Tough All Over about?

Things Are Tough All Over is a 1982 American action comedy film directed by Thomas K. Avildsen about Cheech and Chong, two struggling musicians, who are hired to drive a limousine from Chicago to Las Vegas, unaware it's packed with dirty money.

Programmer's Pick

Cheech and Chong's cross-country ride is less road trip, more rolling disaster—especially when they keep selling off the car piece by piece. With double roles and a trunk full of criminal cash, it's a stoner farce that never takes the scenic route.

Overview

Cheech and Chong find themselves in a jam once again as penniless musicians stuck in a freezing Chicago winter, scraping by at a car wash owned by two wealthy, eccentric Arabs. When their antics at work land them in hot water, they're strong-armed into performing at the Arabs' club and driving a limousine cross-country to Las Vegas. Unbeknownst to the duo, the limo is stuffed with a fortune in illicit cash, and their only real concern is wooing the Arabs' French girlfriends and scraping together enough gas money. Between run-down cars, odd jobs, and their signature stoner charm, Cheech and Chong's misadventures promise a road movie full of absurd detours and comedic mishaps.
