Programmer's Pick

Where else do you get cannibal tribes, an alcoholic guide with a heart (and a hangover), and a jungle blood hunt, all played with a wink? Tennessee Buck proves you don’t have to be Indiana Jones to get neck-deep in trouble—or headhunters.

Overview

Ken Manchester, a wealthy and enthusiastic traveler, drags his less-than-thrilled wife Barbara on a Borneo jungle expedition, guided by the hard-drinking and resourceful Tennessee Buck Malone. Their trek quickly devolves into a struggle for survival when they are ambushed by a tribe of cannibal headhunters and taken to a remote village. As the Manchesters and Buck are thrust into the tribe’s brutal rituals and customs, alliances and motives are tested, setting the stage for a tense, unpredictable adventure. The film mixes jungle peril, culture clash, and offbeat humor, with a wild-card guide who’s seen it all. Expect a mashup of genre flavors and a setting rarely visited in American adventure cinema.
