Programmer's Pick

Billy Dee Williams leads a vengeance-fueled crusade that’s equal parts blaxploitation and international caper. Sidney J. Furie splices undercover intrigue with a motley crew of antiheroes—expect more bazookas and mustaches than your average crime drama. When heroin smuggling meets vigilante justice, subtlety takes a back seat.

Overview

Hit! opens with a cross-continental setup: in Marseille, opium is smuggled, processed, and hidden in bicycle frames for shipment to the United States, while in Washington, D.C., a young woman named Jeannie Allen dies from a heroin overdose after her boyfriend injects her. Her grieving father, Nick Allen, a federal agent, is devastated and determined to seek justice. Driven by personal loss, Nick goes after the drug dealer but soon realizes the true villains are higher up the supply chain. As he faces institutional indifference, Nick begins to assemble a team of people whose lives have also been destroyed by the drug trade, setting the stage for a mission that blurs the line between official justice and personal vendetta.
