Programmer's Pick

Stuart Gordon follows up his Lovecraft obsession with a gloriously perverse blend of slime, science, and sexual tension. The Resonator’s otherworldly horrors come spiked with body horror and unfiltered appetites—this is not your average mad scientist romp.

Overview

Dr. Edward Pretorius and his assistant, Dr. Crawford Tillinghast, develop the Resonator—a machine that grants those nearby the ability to perceive realities beyond human senses. Their successful experiment quickly spirals out of control as bizarre, menacing creatures materialize, drawn by the machine’s power. An encounter leaves Crawford accused of murder and committed to a psychiatric ward, while the authorities struggle to make sense of Pretorius’s grisly fate. The film’s setup is a volatile blend of science run amok, psychological tension, and the dangers of pushing perception past natural limits. Expect a heady cocktail of body horror, forbidden knowledge, and the chaos unleashed when human curiosity goes too far.
