Programmer's Pick

Fred Olen Ray serves up a sun-soaked, tongue-in-cheek sendup of the women-in-prison formula, with bikinis as standard-issue and corruption around every turn. If you like your prison movies with more skin than security, this one knows exactly what it's doing.

Overview

Jessie, a waitress working in a less-than-classy bar, finds herself the victim of a frame-up and lands a five-year sentence in a women’s prison notorious for its lack of clothing and abundance of corruption. Overseen by a scheming warden and a domineering head guard, this is no ordinary penitentiary—the inmates are forced into bikinis and sent out to labor on the chain gang. Navigating unwanted advances from guards and the attentions of fellow inmates, Jessie plots her escape, determined to unmask the true culprit behind the robbery and regain her freedom. Expect a cheeky sendup of the women-in-prison genre, with all the requisite softcore and camp.

Why Cult

Bikinis on the Chain Gang

Inmates swap orange jumpsuits for bikinis as they bust rocks and stir up trouble, embracing the genre’s most absurd flourishes.

Corrupt Prison Authorities

A scheming warden and a butch-lesbian head guard keep the pressure (and the camp) high behind bars.

Softcore Camp

Expect ample nudity, steamy encounters, and over-the-top antics that poke fun at exploitation conventions.

Framed and Fighting Back

Jessie’s quest to clear her name and unmask the real bandit adds just enough plot to keep the bikinis in motion.
