Programmer's Pick

Burt Reynolds delivers Southern-fried justice with a side of moonshine and a Ford packing more punch than a juke joint brawl. Joseph Sargent steers this hixploitation classic through sharp turns of corruption, revenge, and sly humor. Keep your eyes peeled for car chases that leave the law and the audience eating dust.

Overview

Bobby "Gator" McKlusky, a convicted moonshiner, finds his prison sentence interrupted by devastating news: his younger brother has been killed by a corrupt county sheriff in Arkansas. When Gator’s attempt to escape fails, the government offers him a deal—go undercover to help the Treasury investigate moonshine smuggling and corruption tied to the sheriff. But Gator’s real agenda is personal, not legal: revenge is the only evidence he’s interested in collecting. Armed with a souped-up Ford and a new identity, Gator plunges into the rural underworld of car chases, wisecracks, and bootleggers, navigating a landscape where every handshake might hide a shotgun.
