Overview

Lars Olafssen was once an art world darling, but his creative spark is now snuffed out by a history of breakdowns and a dangerous source of inspiration—violence. Hoping to rebuild his life, Lars accepts a teaching post in the remote Canadian town of Koda Lake, where his art dealer sets him up in the hopes of rekindling his talent. The calm is soon disrupted when Lars becomes caretaker to Eddie, an art student whose sleepwalking episodes reveal a deeply unusual and unsettling talent of their own. As Lars's desire to paint awakens in tandem with Eddie’s nocturnal wanderings, the film walks a razor’s edge between black comedy and horror, exploring how far an artist might go for inspiration.
