Programmer's Pick

Roger Corman packs a full heist, betrayal, and a hurricane’s worth of pulp into 68 minutes, with Beverly Garland stealing scenes as a femme fatale who’s had enough. Come for the psychotronic noir vibes, stay for Dick Miller and an island setting that isn’t just window dressing.

Overview

In Naked Paradise, Duke Bradley operates a boat hired to ferry a group to the Hawaiian Islands. His passengers—Zac Cotton, his troubled girlfriend Max, and two toughs named Mitch and Stony—harbor a criminal agenda, robbing a plantation payroll after a festive lūʻau. Unaware of their crime at first, Duke soon finds himself caught in the crossfire as tensions and violence erupt within the group. The lush tropical setting turns perilous with the arrival of a hurricane, forcing alliances to shift and survival instincts to take over. This is a taut blend of noir-infused crime and island drama, where greed, betrayal, and dreams of escape collide.
