Rutger Hauer’s existential crisis is best enjoyed with a stiff seaside breeze and a side of parson’s daughter.

Programmer's Pick

Rutger Hauer dons existential angst and an overcoat as Johan Nagel, the enigmatic traveler whose mere presence ignites scandal, romance, and introspection in a coastal town. With Sylvia Kristel and David Rappaport rounding out a cast of idiosyncratic locals, this adaptation revels in love triangles and outsider discomfort, all under the chilly shadow of Hamsun’s source novel.
