Programmer's Pick

If the courts won't serve justice, The Ladies Club has a scalpel and a plan. Janet Greek's film doesn't flinch from its provocative premise or its sharp critique of the system—expect gloves, masks, and plenty of nerve.

Overview

In The Ladies Club, Los Angeles policewoman Joan Taylor faces trauma and injustice after being gang-raped in her own home. When her attackers evade conviction due to a legal technicality, Joan seeks support and finds kinship with other women who have suffered similar fates, including a doctor whose daughter was murdered by a sex offender. United by their experiences and disillusionment with the legal system, the group takes matters into their own hands. Their method: tracking down men who have repeatedly violated women and evaded justice, then abducting and surgically castrating them. As their campaign for vigilante justice escalates, each woman's personal struggles threaten to unravel their dangerous alliance.
