Programmer's Pick

The Deadly Spawn splatters creature-feature thrills all over domestic bliss, proving that sometimes the real monsters are in your basement—especially if they just crash-landed from outer space. Low-budget ingenuity meets practical gore effects in this proudly pulpy, New Jersey-set invasion. It’s the kind of B-movie that reminds you basements and meteorites just don’t mix.

Overview

A seemingly ordinary day in the New Jersey woods takes a sinister turn when a meteorite crashes nearby, releasing a mysterious and hungry alien creature. Two unsuspecting campers who investigate become its first victims, setting the stage for chaos. In a house not far from the crash site, siblings Pete and Charles find their family’s safety at stake as the monstrous creature takes up residence in their basement. Relatives and friends arrive, each unaware of the lurking terror below, while a sudden rainstorm isolates the group. Tension mounts as the creature’s presence starts to warp a routine weekend into a desperate fight for survival. This is a low-budget, creature-driven slice of grindhouse sci-fi horror that doesn’t skimp on blood—or shrieks.
