Quick Answer

What is Deadly Prey about?

Deadly Prey is a 1987 American action-thriller film directed by David A. Prior about a Vietnam War veteran kidnapped by mercenaries and forced to fight for his survival.

Programmer's Pick

Few films make jorts a uniform of vengeance, but Deadly Prey commits. Between exploding bodies and a body count that rivals the ammo budget, this is pure 1980s action excess—delivered with a knowing wink to B-movie fans.

Overview

Colonel Hogan, a decorated Special Forces officer now leading a crew of mercenaries, is hired by a businessman to train new recruits. Their training method? Kidnap unsuspecting civilians, drop them in the woods, and hunt them for sport. When they snatch Mike Danton—a Vietnam War vet with serious combat chops—they get far more than prey. Released in the forest wearing nothing but jorts and determination, Danton quickly turns the tables, picking off his would-be killers one by one. With a set-up that fuses militaristic mayhem and manhunt suspense, Deadly Prey delivers hard-bodied action, unrelenting violence, and a survival scenario where the line between hunter and hunted blurs fast.

Exploding Bodies

From gunfights to martial arts, the film doesn’t skimp on over-the-top violence, including more than one body blown apart.
