Programmer's Pick

This 'Wrong Turn' doesn't just reboot the backwoods horror formula—it cranks up the paranoia with a shadowy society that’s been thriving in the Appalachian wilderness since before the Civil War. If you thought going off-trail was a bad idea, wait until you meet The Foundation.

Overview

A group of friends—Jen, her boyfriend Darius, and two other couples—heads to rural Virginia for an adventurous trek along the Appalachian Trail. Their arrival in a small town is met with open hostility from the locals, setting an uneasy tone. Ignoring warnings to stay on the marked path, the group ventures off-trail in search of an old fort, only to trigger a tragic accident and find themselves lost. As night falls, mysterious disappearances and the loss of their cellphones escalate their predicament. The discovery of a dated plaque hints at the presence of a longstanding, insular group in the mountains, raising the stakes for the hikers as the forest closes in around them.
