Programmer's Pick

Storm Warning serves up a bracing dose of hixploitation terror, with deranged island locals and a storm that’s the least of the couple’s problems. If you like your survival horror mean, muddy, and mercilessly Australian, this one doesn’t pull its punches.

Overview

Rob, an Australian lawyer, and his pregnant French artist wife Pia take a day to sail through the mangroves of Western Port, Victoria. When the tide strands them, they are forced to abandon their dinghy and seek shelter as darkness and a torrential storm descend. Navigating the remote and sparsely inhabited French Island, they stumble across a violent scene on a desolate road before finally reaching a decrepit farmhouse. What begins as a search for refuge quickly takes a sinister turn, as the couple finds themselves isolated and vulnerable in unfamiliar, hostile territory. Storm Warning sets up a tense, atmospheric horror scenario rooted in survival and dread, where escape is far from guaranteed.
