Overview

On a scorching summer day in downtown Manhattan, a mysterious infection begins to spread, turning ordinary residents into bloodthirsty, rat-like monstrosities. As the outbreak worsens, most of the city’s information comes via frantic TV news, which details how rampant urban decay and relentless heat have driven the city’s rats to spread a horrific disease. Victims of the infection rapidly mutate, losing their humanity and seeing their neighbors only as prey. Among the chaos, Clutch, a retired boxer, struggles to protect his fellow apartment tenants while awaiting the return of his soldier daughter from Iraq. As quarantine measures begin and the city teeters on the brink, survival becomes a matter of barricading the doors and hoping for rescue.
