Programmer's Pick

Phobia therapy never looked so deadly. Boogeyman 2 dials up the slasher mayhem by turning each character's personal terror against them, all within the fluorescent-lit nightmare of a psychiatric hospital. If you like your sequels meaner and messier, step right in.

Overview

Boogeyman 2 follows Laura Porter, who, after witnessing her parents' murder as a child by a figure she believes to be the Boogeyman, seeks treatment for her lingering trauma. She checks herself into a psychiatric hospital, joining a therapy group made up of young adults, each struggling with different phobias ranging from darkness and germs to agoraphobia and bulimia. As Laura settles in, a series of disturbing events begins: group members are killed off, each in a manner that cruelly matches their biggest fears. The film blends slasher horror with psychological elements, using the hospital's claustrophobic setting to amplify tension and paranoia as Laura and her fellow patients realize they are trapped with a threat that seems to know their deepest anxieties.
