Overview

Backwoods opens with a couple, Tom and Gwen, who are violently attacked while camping in a national park, setting a grim tone. The main story follows Mark Till, a self-made CEO, who organizes an annual survival getaway for his employees. This year’s challenge: a paintball war deep in the northern California woods. The group, mostly city dwellers, eagerly approach the event as a team-building exercise, unaware of the lurking dangers. As they divide into teams and set up their camps, the participants find themselves out of their depth, facing not just the challenge of the wilderness, but also the hostility of suspicious locals. The film establishes an escalating sense of menace, making it clear that these outsiders are unprepared for the deadly threat they are about to encounter.
