Overview

In the distant year 10,191, the universe is ruled by the Padishah Emperor Shaddam IV, whose grip on power hinges on the rare drug known as 'spice', found only on the desert planet Arrakis. The spice extends life, enhances consciousness, and is key to interstellar travel, making Arrakis the most contested territory in existence. Fearing the rising influence of Duke Leto Atreides, the Emperor hatches a plot to destroy House Atreides by luring them to Arrakis, all while the enigmatic Spacing Guild and the mysterious Bene Gesserit sisterhood pursue their own agendas.
